Not enough user feedback from that?! | Trust me, Blizzard got from day1 of beta the same constant feedback about battlenet 2.0. They'd have to be blind to miss it. Edit: the us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/248426346 feedback thread, which basically is the same since beta day 1. |
I think Battle.NET 2.0 isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be; in my opinion, the new features are great (friends list, integrated links to profiles from games, match maker etc.).
Where they dropped the ball is not including some of the basic old features, such as chat rooms - or areas for people to congregate in a social matter. Staring at that starting menu interface makes you feel like you are not really online, and a part of a larger community. I agree chat rooms original implementations (dumping people into a random US-WEST## chat room) wasn't great, but at least you could quickly join another community - i.e. MFO, TL, etc. etc.
The new custom game picker isn't great either, however, I think if they could fix the issue of 'popular maps getting more popular' and non-popular maps virtually unplayable, it would be the best out there.
CAMPAIGN SPOILERS BELOW
I thought the campaign was a bit disappointing, from a story/lore perspective. This could have a lot to do with the anticipation, but it just came across as pretty weak. The story left me thinking, "is that really it?", the Protoss sub-campaign was way more interesting, as nearly every mission was an integral part of the story. On the other hand, the Terran missions were very filler like, not affecting the story other than granting more credits for upgrades/research. Even what I thought the goal of the campaign was, turned out to just go by the way side - "Mengsk, meh I know you've spent the last 22 missions in attempting to kill him, but now we're going to go save my ex-girlfriend turned pshyco b!tch. The mission design was really good, however, very interesting and kept it fresh. Not your standard 'build base. kill enemy units. destroy all enemy buildings. win'.
I am certainly hoping for more from the Heart of the Swarm.
